The Tarpon Triathlon began in 2009 and was a huge success!! We would like to thank everyone that participated, volunteered to help, & sponsored the race, without them this race would not have been possible! We are currently gearing up for the second annual race, and we are very excited as there is already a buzz in the community of people waiting for the race to come again!
The Tarpon Tri is a sprint distance triathlon located in Houma, LA, specifically in the Bayou Black community. The swim is a pool swim, and the bike and run portions take place along the gentle curves of Bayou Black, making for a picturesque race. There is a park at the recreation center (the site of the race) which is great for entertaining the kids as well as large shelters with picnic tables creating a great atmosphere to enjoy the post race activities and mingling with friends and family!
This is a great race for any level of triathlete from beginner through more experienced triathletes of all ages. We also allow for relay teams to enter the race adding to the fun and excitement of the event! So, look through the site and learn more about the race. We hope to see you there!
New for this year! We are happy to announce that we will be using a chip timing system for the race this year instead of the hand calculated method we used last year, so look for quicker, more accurate results!
